Anne-Héléne

Nationality: French

Residence: Strasbourg, France

Background: BASE Jumper, Crossfit

Bio:

Drawn to a life in the mountains and specifically the sport of Base Jumping Anne 'Helly' Héléne continues to excel and is now harnessing her full potential each time she steps away from terra-firmer. Keeping fit and healthy comes part and parcel with a sport that demands so much from the body. To keep in shape and prepare for hikes up to exit points Helly can be found attacking the bars and rings at her local Crossfit gym.

What are your most prominent personnel achievements?

My first climb to the top of the Eiger in Switzerland was the most intense moment for me as a base jumper, and the jump that followed was magical! Also jumping in Titlis, Italy and taking those first lines of flight near the cliff walls was always been a dream and I am so happy to now have a lot more experience to play with the mountain’s shape and relief.

Keeping mentally and physically fit in these environments is so important and Crossfit in my opinion covers both aspects. The most striking thing for me was being able to perform well in weightlifting, which I never thought I could do and now love! To overcome your body limits - it’s exhilarating.

Biggest fear or obstacle you have had to conquer?

I think the main obstacle is one’s self. We are our own engine or our own brake. Surpassing yourself, it's easier said than done, but it's the best way to conquer the impossible!

What are your main goals for the future?

To continue to conquer new and higher summits, longer flight times in my flight suit. Also, I want to keep improving in Crossfit! In particular gymnastic movements, which require a lot of technicality and agility. If I could achieve all this whilst travelling and discovering new cultures that would be ideal!
